I became a Vegan two weeks ago, after watching the videos and documentaries of yourself and Joey Carbstrong, and being inspired by your thoughtful and articulate ideas about veganism. It made me confront my own ignorance and the lies I was telling myself to keep doing what was comfortable rather than doing what is right. Thank you for allowing me to see the moral inconsistencies and cognitive dissonance I was suppressing. The world needs more people like you.
Ed, as someone who deeply enjoys the writing of both your videos and your speeches, I am absolutely delighted that I get to read more of it here on Substack. You are an inspiration, and your words have moved me to no end. I'll never forget, "if we could teach a kid to respect the life of an inconsequential fish, how could that human ever grow up to exploit another human based on superfluous reasons like race or gender?" That vision of the future inspired me. Keep up the great work!
Nice to find you in my feed. We are vegans for 55 years now and yes as you can imagine we faced challenges. Never with our commitment to being vegan though. We were way ahead of the crowd and finding foodstuffs and learning to make and grow everything ourselves was the challenge but we did it. At 75 we are strong and always always healthy. I admit it changed our relationship with family and friends who challenged us constantly about our diet choice even if we never challenged them. We were never pushy or militant. We just hoped they would learn from our example. They didn't. Their choice. We continue with our happy life.
Beautifully said, Ed. Being vegan in a carnivorous culture often feels like grieving in a parade. Your honesty is a balm, and this new chapter sounds like a sacred fire—gentle enough to gather around, but steady enough to keep us warm through the long night of normativity. Subscribed.
Ed, you’ve been a tremendous inspiration on my vegan journey. Your insights consistently remind me why we do this and help me stay encouraged, even when the challenges and conversations around veganism can feel repetitive. I’m truly looking forward to reading more of your thoughtful work here on Substack.
You have probably saved the lives of thousands and thousands of animals by this point. Not many people in the world are making such positive net difference in terms of reducing suffering. Thank you so much for doing this!
Ed, you could be a professional psychologist and in fact if you want to dive into this world about offering help to vegans cope with this carnist world that will be another form of your work that will contribute immensely. I don't know how you've managed to keep your composure after all these years especially on social media but you are a genius. I often get frustrated and angry but you manage to channel everything into a positive for veganism.
Heya Ed. I have been following you from the very early days. We used to fight against fur for London Fashion Week. I even did the Earthling Experience with you. I even picked up your speaker when you lost it, at the end of the anti-fur event.
Wow! You have come such a long way. Even though personally I was intimidated to connect with you, somehow I always resonated with you and your work. You have my support till the end of time, as animals deserve it.
My first time using substack, so nice of you to do this with intentions mentioned in the last video!
One of my last comment on an older video of yours was exactly about this "How to socialize as a vegan as someone who cannot endure willfully ignorant traditionalist friends & family after six years of socratic approac and epistemology.
I hope with your texts and this substack system can help with this issue, because the cultural challenges are the hardest for most vegans
All those years ago I walked alongside you Ed at the London marches etc. We shared several words at different marches over the years. I have followed all you do, bought your books to support you. I have huge admiration and respect for the wonderful work you do. I knew all those years back that you would be where you are now. It was your manner, passion and eloquent use of language that struck me so much. Never stop my friend….Sending much love ❤️Rebecca The video is excellent by the way. It will be shared far and wide. Take care. X

Hiya Ed, welcome to Substack. Looking forward to reposting and sharing you here.
Great to see you on here Ed! Looking forward to reading what you post, and maybe it'll inspire me to share some more vegan content :)
Always feel like veganism is quite female dominated, so it's nice to see more vegan guys so that we can 'show the way' for our brothers.
I’m looking forward to this, and to everything else you do. You’re an inspiration!

A truck crashed.
No one blinked.
But you noticed and put aside your KFC.
Welcome to Substack Ed, this comic I drew is inspired by the moment that shifted your path, and helped shape mine.
Thank you for blinking.
